Solar YYC’s Award-Winning Headquarters Project Showcases Solar Innovation in Calgary

Winner of the Commercial category in the 2025 APsystems Canadian Project of the Year Awards, Solar YYC’s headquarters project in Calgary showcases how solar can be both functional and visually striking. The 16 kW DC solar awning features 40 south-facing modules that generate clean energy while providing shade and improving building comfort.

“In 2025, Solar YYC brought solar energy home by transforming our Calgary headquarters into a living example of clean energy in action,” the company shared. “We wanted to lead by example and show that sustainability can be both functional and beautiful.”
The project utilizes APsystems QT2-208 microinverters.

“The size limitations of three-phase string inverters made the QT2 a perfect solution for this smaller array,” Solar YYC explained. The company also noted that the QT2 “allows for optimal performance for the modules located on the west side of the building” while giving visitors the opportunity to see a microinverter system in action.
